Contemporary Sensibilities, Traditional Craft.

Fran’s Farmhouse is a family operated meat market in the heart of Queens, offering raw organic, antibiotic free, meats, poultry, lamb, and heritage pork. With a daily menu based on staff mood, this store bridges the gap between traditional delicatessen and contemporary corner restaurant. They use fresh herbs grown in the back of the store, all natural ingredients, and offer micro catering.

Design Challenge

With an ultimate goal of increased catering sales, Fran’s Farmhouse wanted to increase awareness of their daily food offerings, retail, and encourage more bulk whole food purchases. The website had to be designed to support the newly established brand and allow users to place online orders for meals, catering requests, and other products/services.

In addition to functionality, their new website needed to be easily updated by someone without technical skills, so administrators could upload custom PDF menus and add new custom photography when it became available.

How We Delivered

User flow starts when we funnel users to three entry points: the “butcher shop” where users can see the variety of products available, the online order form, and the bulk order form. Several pages exist as enticing click through so users can gain awareness of the brand offerings, and user exit point is variable.

Calls to action are featured throughout the site to drive user flow to the Fran’s Mindful Meals section – the online order form – allowing users with any point of entry the ease of ordering and reordering.

The design was intentionally kept clean to draw focus to the striking imagery and give the website an inviting quality. A full-width, fluid layout was chosen to give the content space more room to breathe and further highlight the attractive imagery, and the typography was chosen to give a bold, strong quality to blocks of copy.
